Canine Skin Microbiome Study – NEW AJVR Publication

This is the first study to report the density of the canine skin microbiome! We have partnered with Dr. Richard G. Harvey, BVSc PhD in our latest microbiome publication titled “Quantification of the bacterial flora and its major constituents on the abdominal skin of clinically healthy dogs”.

The canine innate immune system, in relation to the normal bacterial microbiome of dogs for both cutaneous homeostasis and atopic dermatitis, is becoming more apparent. Moreover, the cutaneous microbiome is important in the etiopathogenesis of canine pyoderma. This study’s results will help increase our knowledge in these areas and our understanding of the biology of canine skin.
