Dr. Shuiquan Tang earned his Ph.D. from the University of Toronto, where his thesis was centered on the metagenomic assembly and analysis of enrichment cultures capable of degrading chlorinated organics. Following his doctoral studies, he undertook postdoctoral research at Zymo Research, dedicating his efforts to the development of quality control measures for microbiome research. Subsequently, he played a pivotal role in creating a range of reagents, kits, and sequencing services aimed at advancing Microbiomics and Metagenomics. Currently, he serves as a group leader at Zymo Research, holding the position of Director of Microbiomics. In 2019, alongside colleagues, he co-founded MiDOG, a company that harnesses NGS workflows for the diagnosis of infectious diseases in animals. Presently, he is the Chief Science Officer at MiDOG, focusing on the research and development of NGS workflows and bioinformatics analyses.
